April May

April is half gone, We had an excellent speaker at the meeting, I was unable to stay due to my medical problem, would love to have listened. New member Paul Heinderick moved his partially completed Bede 4 into Hangar one. Paul is from Playa Del Ray and is part of the rescue team that goes after stranded boats. Paul has always wanted to go into aviation, and says he needs all the help, since he has never tackled Aircraft construction. Volunteers accepted graciously. Member Ron Hirsty is moving his Murphy Elite in tomorrow to finish Construction. Ron is Member Leonard Goodman's 182 partner. My aircraft is outside for sale. My scam artists have come in the back door by depositing a bad check for 4900 dollars in my saving account and asking me to send part to Georgia and keep the rest. The bank and I stopped them, at least temporarily. The check was no good.

Ernie Sherb has moved outside to make room for the third aircraft that is supposed to be here this month, an RV 4. Ernie has been held up by our weather, from making the trip to Santa Ynez to be checked out thoroughly in his Challenger. Bob Stewart's very patient wife, along with her daughter, have hauled Bob's trailer load of tools and supplies back to New York. Bob has been waiting and hoping for his FSSDO inspector to go through the plane and paper work, so Bob can Start Taxiing and test flying his Mooney. I understand Ray Knight has volunteered to fly along with him to New York, when testing is finished. Ali Moghaddas, Gary Van Meter, Don Nelson, Doug Wagner, Gene Linhart, and Bryan Wulmer are working steadilly on their projects. I thank all of you members, who have taken my place in setting up the meeting, and general work I am physically unable to do. I really appreciate it.

Lou has moved his Light Sport Aerocoupe back to his regular tie-down behind hangar two. Bob Stewart has been waiting patiently for the DAR, it will happen Tuesday according to Bill Mallory, so by next meeting time, he should be flying. Ernie Sherb has finaly gotten his Challenger to Santa Ynez for training, he should be qualified before the meeting and will be bringing it back to CMA in place of Lou's and back in the hangar if the third aircraft is a no show. The good news is that Bob Stewart's Mooney has passed inspection by the Dar, and is a fully certified aicraft again. Bob has to get his BFR and annual still. Mike Reed informed me that I have received a Check from Jim Wallace to bring his RV4 in for completion. Jim had talked to me earlier in the month and said when he and wife returned from Vacation he would be here.

I have been unable to come to the airport these last weeks, bcause of my generally weakness, now I find I have pneumonia on top so won't be around much. I especially thank Mike Reed for covering for me. Also Bob Stewart, Leon Haskins and Dick Ruble for their help.

(Please note that this was the last HangarTalk edited by Bruce McLemen before he recently passed away.)
